Cape Reef Club ("the Club", "we", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our members. As a voluntary association based in Cape Town, we process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

2. Information We Collect

• Identification: Full name, username, and date of birth.
• Contact: Email address and parental/guardian email (for minors).
• Location: Area of residence (e.g., Northern Suburbs) for community connection.
• Hobby Data: Tank specifications, equipment lists, and saltwater experience.
• Communication: Messages sent through the marketplace or contact forms.

3. Minor Protection (Under 16)

In compliance with POPIA and our Constitution, we take special care with the data of members under 16:

• Parental consent is required to activate a minor's account.
• Minors are identified as "Member (Minor)" in high-visibility areas.
• Public directory profiles are disabled by default for minors.
• Parents/Guardians are CC'd on all marketplace or directory inquiries.

4. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely for:

• Maintaining the official register of members.
• Facilitating the member directory and marketplace.
• Verifying eligibility for Club events and the AGM.
• Sending essential Club communications (notices, newsletters).
